Onshore Wind Power Plant in Champagne Conlinoise

Wind farm Champagne Conlinoise in France


The Champagne Conlinoise onshore wind power plant is located in the communes of Conlie and Neuvillalais, in the Sarthe region (France). It produces renewable electricity that replaces a part of the French electricity production mix*.

With a capacity of 17.4 MW supplied by Vestas V126-3.45 MW turbines, it consists of 5 wind turbines for an estimated production of 43,326 MWh/year.

The design of the project dates to early 2014, and the plant has been in operation since the third quarter of 2020. The financing of this wind farm was made by TotalEnergies Renouvelables (formerly Total Quadran) with a co-financing from the cooperative Fermiers de Loué. The plant is operated by TotalEnergies.

The plant contributes to the objective of increasing the share of renewable energy to 40% of the French electricity mix by 2030, as set out in the French law on the energy transition for green growth (LTECV).

By injecting renewable energy (in this case from wind) into the French electricity grid, the plant reduces dependence on fossil fuels of the country, lowers greenhouse gas emissions and promotes decentralized and local electricity production.

Compared to the reference scenario, which is the French electricity production mix in 2016 without the wind power plant, TotalEnergies' Champagne Conlinoise wind farm demonstrates the following environmental performance:

- An 88% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions

This comparative review was based on a Life Cycle Assessment for the functional unit: "Produce 1 kWh of electricity distributed to the national grid during 20 years of operation. "
